Mr Yeo Woo Hua, aged 74 spoke softly of his younger days, when life felt unhurried. Watching Chingay was a cherished memory making it a season of colour and celebration. He remembered the swirl of vibrant costumes, the steady rhythm of drums echoing through the streets, and the simple excitement of standing and watching all the performances. The performers were often smiley and wore different make up for their different characters. If there was any festive event that brought joy and wonder to his heart, it would be Chingay as it was also during the Chinese New Year. There were many fond memories of gathering with friends and families, watching Chinese New Year shows on TV and sometimes around the neighbourhood. It was the most exciting month of the year.
