Whenever the word “chingay” is mentioned, it brought me memories of the times I had with my children when they were kids. We would line along the street, squeezing our way through the crowd to get to the front (much to the annoyance of the spectators) to watch the procession. Fortunately, we were forgiven for doing so because of their size. We simply loved to take in the colourful and glitzing sights of the procession.
Chingay is an eventful celebration steering the lunar new year with vibrant multicultural performances, giving a sense of community spirit. As the Chinese new year was already half dampened by the ban of fire crackers,

However, never in my wildest dreams would l think that I could participate, but I did. Not just once, but coming thrice. And in my senior years!
