Chingay has always had a special place in my heart. To me Chinese New Year is not one without a Chingay Parade as it is always timed during this festive period of the year. Since young, I would always wait in high anticipation for the parade, going early to get a good seat by the roadside to watch the parade and wishing that I have a chance to participate in it. Of course, in recent years, this has since been staged at venues with grandstand seating. My wish finally came true many years later when I was given the opportunity in 2025 as part of a dance group to participate in the event. It was such a wonderful & unforgettable experience to enjoy the beauty of different ages, races and cultures from all walks of lives and different countries coming together in unity and harmony to watch and participate in celebration of our diversity. I hope to see Chingay being recognised on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
