About Us

Empowering Voices, Enriching the Ageing Journey

At LION, we recognise the transformative power of stories. Each life is a unique journey, filled with rich experiences that have the potential to inspire, educate, and unite us all. Our mission is to elevate these personal stories, creating a platform where older individuals and their carers can both share and explore a wealth of LifeCourse narratives. By fostering this exchange, we aim to cultivate deeper connections, preserve treasured memories, and enhance our collective understanding of the ageing process.

LION is a significant milestone for us in SG60 year as we recollect the lived experiences of our older persons and their family members and share their narratives with the community

Reflections from students

Let your story flow, and have the courage to release your bottled-up memories. There’s no right or wrong way to share your recollections about your loved ones and the impact they’ve had on who you are today — it’s your story, after all. As for me, I felt a sense of relief in being able to reminisce about my late grandfather and how our ordinary days together still influence how I shape my story

When I was writing the story about someone I loved a lot, I felt a torrid of emotions as it brought back so many fond memories of my childhood and adolescence, where my grandparents showered me with so much love through their actions such as cooking nutritious home cooked food or picking us up from school everyday. And in seeing them now in their frailty selves, only makes me feel sad that death is end of the life cycle we all have to face. But I am also thankful for the values and beliefs they had inculcated in me since young, for me to share with my daughter. Their legacy will continue to live on.

It has been about seven years since my grandmother passed away. Over time, I don’t think about her as often, except during special moments. Sometimes, this makes me feel guilty, as if I am forgetting her little by little. When Dr. Kelvin asked us to write about our grandparents, she immediately came to mind. I could picture her clearly—the way she used to cook, the aroma of her dishes filling the kitchen. I realized that even though I don’t think about her every day, she has never truly left me.
