Chingay is a people’s parade celebrating multiculturalism with elaborate costumes, colorful floats and cultural performances. Chingay started in 1973, usually after Chinese New Year. I remembered my daughter had the opportunity to participate in Chingay and I had the chance to attend the event. From preparation to the actual day of the event, all participants trained very hard . The glamorous lighting and music and the floats and dancers from different regions brought joy to all. Chingay also encouraged people of multiculturalism, and even from different regions to come together and to work together. It’s very touching to see when all efforts paid off .
